The Zen Hour. A calm way to get stuff done

Much as there are times when I would love to shut myself away for, like, a week, and totally Get On With Stuff. I have family and friends and customers – oh you too? Well it’s just a tad impractical isn’t it?!
So instead I do this daily Zen Hour thing. OK so it’s not quite the same as going bush for a week but still, it works!
The Zen Hour is dead simple. Just set aside ONE hour a day for no interruptions. So that’s phone off, email off, Facebook off, doorbell off. Nothing get’s inside the Power Hour except you and your work.
And also do this:
1. Plan your work BEFORE you start your Zen Hour.
Oh yes, common-sense. But there has been the *ahem* odd occasion when I’ve spent my Zen Hour deciding what to do rather than actually doing it!
2. Do it EVERY DAY.
This is the magic. Turn the Zen Hour into a daily ritual. Try it. You’ll be amazed.
