Why “baking”
How we got our name....... 
Baking in the traditional sense; taking butter, eggs, flour and sugar, is a magical process. When you take those most basic of ingredients, mix them together in a special way and heat them up you get an amazing transformation; a fabulously delicious cake.
And baking a business is very similar. When you take the raw ingredients of your business (your idea, your passion and your commitment), mix them together in a special way and heat them up (which in this case means applying lots of your energy) then you also get an amazing transformation; a successful business.
The key is in knowing how to mix the ingredients together, the key is in having a recipe.

Why recipes?
Recipes are at the heart of The Business Bakery; they are the “how to do it” bit, they are the key to putting your ingredients together in such a way that your business will rise and taste fantastic.Imagine for a moment that you have never baked a cake before and you have never really seen anyone else bake a cake (let’s assume that your Mum wasn’t much of a domestic goddess). But now you want to bake a cake. In the absence of a recipe can you imagine the overwhelming amount of effort (and mistakes) that it would take for you to find the right ingredients, quantities and techniques?
We think the same goes for business. Many Kitchen Table Tycoons are baking their first business and because they haven’t come from a “business” family, they need recipes, gathered from years of experience and other people’s mistakes, to help them avoid expensive and soul destroying pitfalls.
So at the heart of The Business Bakery is a collection of recipes to help Kitchen Table Tycoons bake great tasting “profitable” businesses. The recipes are entertaining and fun and there is something for everyone; from working up an idea to working out how to manage time; from supersizing the bank balance to skinnying the costs and there is even some comfort cooking for the Kitchen Table Tycoon herself. The full collection of recipes is only available to our Zest members but we have some “free” recipes on the website for you to try out. Why women?
Clearly the principles behind running a great business apply equally to men and women, but we wanted to create something that was written with women in mind so the stories, anecdotes and analogies are drawn from female experiences. But please, if you are male, you are still very welcome to join us!
